Hi, my name is Jan and I have been delivering Kiddleydivey Music Sessions since making a career change in 2016. I was a Primary school teacher for many years and have always been passionate about Music. It is wonderful to now be sharing the joy and benefits of music with adults and children.
Adults
I provide music sessions for adults of all ages in Stockport, East and South Manchester.
The sessions have been devised by our founder, Sally Murphy a qualified Music Therapist. Established in 1997, the purpose was to help improve the quality of life for those with limited mobility, dementia and other vulnerabilities.
What happens in a group session?
- Singing, chair based exercises and dancing (If appropriate)
- Use of stimulating and exciting props
- Use of percussion instruments
- Reminiscence activities using photographs, props and music clips
The tracks we used have been chosen for their popularity and therapeutic content. They cover different eras including modern songs for younger clients. They have been specially adapted for group singing.
Kiddleydivey consistently research and develop its many musical themed activities and sessions.
What are the benefits?
- Positive changes in mood and emotion and a sense of control over life
- Non-pharmalogical management of pain and discomfort
- Improved cognitive functioning
- Increased mobility

Children
I have been providing structured, themed educational music classes for day nurseries and preschool settings since 2016. I am an experienced Primary School teacher with a degree in Education with Music as a specialism.
Our Kiddleydivey sessions incorporate movement, singing, playing percussion instruments and social interaction through traditional and specially composed songs.
Our children’s sessions have been specifically designed by Sally Murphy to cover the guidelines of the EYFS. They enhance and develop confidence, coordination, communication, literacy and numeracy, understanding of the world and social skills. The structure and repetition within the sessions and working as a group can help every child to blossom, no matter how hesitantly they may start!
Sessions are fun, active and contain a variety of activities such as jumping in the bubbles, using different props, such as the parachute and engaging with our wonderful puppet characters.
More and more experts are recognising the benefits of musical activities for children and how it develops and uses all parts of the brain. A love of music established early on will last a lifetime!
Kiddleydivey Kittens (0-2 years)
The younger children develop key skills such as social interaction, language and co-ordination through movement to music and rhyme. The children develop an understanding of rhythm, tempo and volume and explore the world around them in an enjoyable and interesting way.
Kiddleydivey Cats (2-4 years)
In these sessions the children build on and further develop the skills they have already acquired.
Through the medium of music the children learn about and develop a real appreciation of volume, pitch rhythm, and tempo whilst encouraging a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Sessions are 30 minutes long and are for up to 15 children.
I run sessions in nurseries and preschools in Oldham, Stockport, East and South Manchester.
